1. Develop FCEV and refuelling station network policy positions to grow FCEV use, with an initial focus on heavy road transport.
2. Develop policy to drive investment in hydrogen as a fuel feedstock.

The Transport Working Group started life as the FCEV Working Group with its roots in AHC’s previous identity as Hydrogen Mobility Australia. As the AHC has expanded and various members have shown an interest in hydrogen as a transport fuel beyond being a power source for fuel cells, the Working Group has shifted focus to transport more broadly and been renamed to reflect this.
The Working Group now covers road transport (dealing with fuel cell vehicles and direct combustion) as well as the role of hydrogen (or derivatives) as maritime fuel and the use of hydrogen in the manufacture of sustainable aviation fuels. Rail is theoretically within scope for Working Group 5.
The Working Group, through the secretariat, is also engaging with research institutions to understand the potential to develop meaningful Total Cost of Ownership analysis for Australia based on European experience. We are aware that such work is being undertaken and are looking to ensure that it complements government and private fleet trials to provide a reliable guidance on fleet owner investment decisions.
