The Australian Hydrogen Council is supporting domestic decarbonisation and demand for hydrogen and its derivatives for various purposes including export.
We collaborate closely across supply chains with producers and users of ammonia, methanol, iron, alumina and sustainable aviation fuel to drive positive policy outcomes that support industrial decarbonisation.
We aim to achieve this by:
Accelerating production of hydrogen to ensure it is there when it is needed.
Collaborating across and within supply chains on industrial decarbonisation.
Aggregating policy cases for hydrogen’s importance as a feedstock for vital industries.
Hydrogen production and utilisation is a necessity rather than a choice, and requires significant commitment and investment. This is because hydrogen will be the primary way to decarbonise key sectors of our economy, such as ammonia for fertilisers, iron and alumina ores, industrial processes that require high temperatures, and fuel for heavy road transport, aviation and shipping.
Australia is currently developing demand side incentives for these industries that need to utilise hydrogen. Therefore, we need to work collaboratively to share lessons learned and ensure demand side incentives support public interest outcomes.
