ARENA announces funding round shortlist
On 20 July 2020 ARENA announced the seven shortlisted applicants for its $70m funding round. Congratulations to our members ATCO, AGIG, APA Group, Engie and Woodside!
Current EOI processes
Transport for NSW is calling for expressions of interest from industry leaders to trial zero emission buses, with submissions closing 3 August. Access to the tender is here.
The Tasmanian Government opened its EOI process to access $50m of funding, with submissions due 18 August. Further details are here.
We have just opened a member portal on the AHC website. The portal also has sections open to governments and other members of our working groups. The committee pages and library are member only.
AHC recently signed MOUs with five industry associations: Bioenergy Australia, the Clean Energy Council, the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association, the Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Association and the New Zealand Hydrogen Association. These are great partnerships and I look forward to working more closely together.
We submitted a response to the Technology Investment Roadmap discussion paper in June. The submission can be found here.
The NT Government released its Renewable Hydrogen Strategy in July 2020. The Strategy sets out a five-point action plan, addressing local industry development, resource management, growing and harnessing demand, supporting innovation and responsive regulation.
Standards Australia announced the adoption and publication of eight international standards for Australian hydrogen. This programme of work started in 2018, where AHC (when we were Hydrogen Mobility Australia) played a leading role. A huge thank you to AHC representatives Billy Chan, Chris Rouse and Andrew Walker.
UNSW had two major announcements, with the news in June about a new Hydrogen Energy Research Centre, and then this month the news that researchers from UNSW had secured over $4.9m for a new ARC Training Centre for the Global Hydrogen Economy. AHC is on the Industry Advisory Board for the new training centre.
The NSW Government announced that it will develop a massive Renewable Energy Zone in the New England region - supporting 2,000 construction jobs and 1,300 ongoing jobs, while lowering energy prices and future-proofing the region.
Hyundai reported the NEXOs had arrived in Australia to be deployed by the ACT Government fleet from the third quarter of this year.
A new CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowship in Responsible Hydrogen Transition (Social Science) is available for early career scholars.
