Last year, the Premier of South Australia announced that the Government would prepare new legislation establishing a Coordinator-General function.

The key purpose of this proposal is to facilitate a timely, well-coordinated transition to net-zero across all sectors of our economy.

To achieve this, system improvements are proposed to ensure the state’s regulatory and planning system is sufficiently efficient, competitive, and fit-for-purpose for the increased demand and urgency a changing economy will place on it – including, first and foremost, rapid, economy-wide decarbonisation.

Importantly, it seeks to do so in a balanced, well-coordinated manner that maximises socio-economic benefit while minimising environmental impact.

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) would like to consult with your organisation on this proposal.
