The Renewable Fuel Scheme (RFS) is a new certificate scheme. It will help us reach our net zero emissions target by 2050 by encouraging the production of renewable fuels such as green hydrogen.

There are some important updates to share about the scheme. This includes information about the consultation on the draft RFS Rule, commencement of scheme liability, the 2025 penalty rate value and steps to investigate expanding the scheme.

Consultation is now open for the draft RFS Rule

NSW is seeking your feedback on a series of proposals in the consultation paper about the draft RFS Rule. Your feedback will ensure that the draft RFS Rule clearly describes the requirements to create certificates for green hydrogen production.

You can find more information, including the consultation documents, on the consultation hub.
